The Pūnana Leo o Waimea opened its doors in 1995 with a mission that is rooted in the manaʻo of ʻALANEO. We strive to nurture future generation leaders and instill a balanced foundation of Hawaiian language, culture and quality education for the whole ʻohana.
This mission is incorporated in our daily protocol as an oli (chant) practiced by keiki, staff, and ʻohana during our morning opening. It is also incorporated in our weekly hui kīpaepae and practiced by all.
ʻPūnana Leo follows the ʻAha Pūnana Leoʻs preschool curriculum founded in the Hawaiian Indigenous Educational Philosophy of the Kumu Honua Mauli Ola.
